Workshop in Can Tho:
The subproject ‘Local IWRM in Can Tho’ carried out an interdisciplinary Workshop between November 9 and 13, 2009 in the College of Technology at Can Tho University. Teachers of the University and members of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment were trained in the use the ‘Surface Water Quality Tool’ and of Moskito-GIS. The ‘Surface Water Quality Tool’ allows showing the spatial distribution of selected water quality parameters on surface water. Flows of pollutants into the channels and rivers can be displayed by using a GIS. The synchronization of spatial and water quality data sets allows producing maps of current water quality. In the second part of the workshop, the participants worked on the water quality reports and entered data from all monitoring positions of Can Tho province and data from monitoring campaigns into the system.
