Results

  • Detailed data survey in the trade village Tong Xa in Nam Dinh Province. Interviews were conducted in 13 foundries in the industrial site of Tong Xa. 
    • More than 420 employees (17 % of all employees) are living on premises of only 1.5 ha in size
    • Annual total sales of the analyzed foundries is approximately 70 billion VND, equivalent to 3.2 million euro
    • Total annual production is approximately 6,400 t stable castings
    • Severe environmental problems exist due to open production methods and lack of treatment facilities
  • Development of adapted treatment technologies; first pilot plant studies in Germanyin cooperation with iaks.
  • The first workshop on “Centralized and decentralized treatment of municipal wastewater treatment” was held in Nam Dinh in October 2007. More than 50 experts from Vietnam and Germany took part at the workshop and discussed present problems and future perspectives of Vietnamese municipal wastewater treatment plants.
