The project aims to
develop strategies and recommendations especially for efficient wastewater
treatment in Nam Dinh province, Vietnam.
The objectives are:
- Planning,
construction and operation of a facility to treat industrial and domestic
wastewater.
- Development
of new products by using biotechnology in aquaculture and by recycling waste
components, as additional foundations for refinancing concepts.
- Development
of a refinancing model for water management.
The project activities
comprise the development of concepts integrating environmental protection into
production for industries of the model region. Concepts for treatment of
residential wastewater will be developed as well. The approach is to develop
and implement pilot facilities for experimental studies. Training courses in Vietnam and Germany and the establishment of
future IWRM centers for practical training opportunities complement the
research activities.
A pilot facility will
be constructed for heavy metal removal from wastewater from metalworking
companies (Tong Xa industrial
zone, Yen Xa commune, Y Yen district). Additionally, production processes will be optimized, e.g., for reducing
the demand for water and raw materials.
Also for suburban
regions (My Trung industrial zone, Nam Dinh city) the development of wastewater
treatment and production-integrated environmental protection is planned. The
controlling of processes as well as the material and energy flows of all users
of an industrial area is the key to a full refinancing concept for requested
wastewater treatment facilities.
For rural residential
areas (Tong Xa residential area, Yen Xa commune, Y Yen district) appropriate
wastewater treatment systems will be developed, including subsequent treatment
facilities (e.g., reed beds). All developments will be integrated in the
settlement structure.
For suburban
residential areas (model “Nam Dinh city”) it is planned to develop a pilot wastewater
treatment facility and channel network management. |
